Happy 4th Blogiversery!

Wow, I feel like I have written this post so many times… three other times to be exact. I can’t believe it is my 4th blogiversery. When I started this, I just wanted an outlet to talk about books, and connect with other book lovers. Over the past four years, I have gotten that and so much more.

Looking back, I think this was one of the biggest years for my blog. There wasn’t much change in engagement or the amount I posted (except I did successfully complete Blogtober). I am learning that the most important thing is to have fun with everything you do, so that is what I focused on this year, and I want to continue that on into 2020.

For my last blogiversery, I created a list of goals I had for myself for this year. You can go see the original post and some things I have learned in the book community, here. Let’s see if I achieved any of them, shall we?

1. Go Self-Hosted- Completed!

I did this! I still can’t believe that I have my very own place on the internet. My little home on the big bad place called the web. It has definitely been a learning curb, and I have had plenty of frustrations. Besides that, I am so glad that I went through with this step in my blogging career!

2. Be more consistent- Meh

This is something I’m still working on. I definitely feel like I posted more, and gave more energy into posting on my blog. I definitely want to be WAY more consistent this year. I quantified this goal by saying I wanted to post four times a month. I definitely missed the mark a couple times on this goal, but I am happy with what I did do.

3. Interact more- Complete

This, I definitely feel like I hit. I am not saying I am perfect on interaction, at all. I still have a long way to go, but I do feel that I was successful in the sense that I had improvement, and that’s what’s most important.

4. My Bookstagram- Meh

Bookstagram is where I started in the book community. Unfortunately, I have been very unmotivated about my account. I haven’t seen the growth that I wanted this year. I also have had absolutely no inspiration when it comes to taking photos. When I finally get to actually taking photos, I end up hating every single one. So, let’s just say this wasn’t my most successful endeavor

5. Write more- Completed

I definitely wrote more this year than I did last year. I still need to work on finishing one project before I move onto the next. I think that is my worst quality lol. I just want to work on everything at once. Just like when I want to read all the books at once, so I end up not reading at all.

6. My Shop- Absolutely Not

I did nothing with my shop for 365 full days. Hey, there is still this year, right? Also, here is a link to my shop just in case you want to check it out lol!

My Goals for next year!

  1. Be more consistent (lol)
  2. Interact more
  3. My bookstagram
  4. My shop
  5. Redesign my blog, including new graphics
  6. Not worry about the numbers
  7. Have fun!

Here is to another great year in this amazing community. I am so thankful for every second I have on my blog.

Thanks!

Love, Jackie

    1. Thank you so much! I am just trying to hold the motivation throughout the year, instead of losing it like I often do haha!

  1. Congratulations (belated) for your 4th year blogging.
I have an IG account too Jackie but I’m not a bit photo-taker so it’s never going to be a big platform for me. I love my blog and I love Twitter and I’ve been interacting more on both platforms over the last 6 months.
Self hosting is a big step. What made you want to do it and how have you got on?

    1. One of my favorite aspects of blogging and being in the book community is interacting with others!

I have been thinking about going self-hosted forever. I just wanted to have a little corner of the internet that I called my own haha. It’s been going really well. A LOT of troubleshooting and learning lol but I’m having fun!

      1. So which self-hosting route do you use? It’s getting more and more expensive to get all the extras with WordPress. I upgraded to the Premium Plan to get my own domain and more extras but to get snazzy plugins I would have to be on one of their business plans which is 300% more expensive.
