Tea Advent Calendar – Plus 5 Book Recommendations that Pair Great with a Cup of Tea

Years ago, I had a friend gift me some Hunger Games-inspired teas, one based on Katniss and the other based on Peeta. To this day, it has been one of my favorite gifts, the tea blends were unique and delicious. These teas came from a company called Adagio Teas. And now, with less than two months until Christmas, I am excited to have the opportunity to talk about a tea advent calendar by the same company!

Adagio Teas is one of my favorite online tea shops. They have so many exciting blends, my goal in life is to try as many of their different teas as possible. You can even create your own tea blends that you and others can purchase and try! I have been obsessed with Adagio Teas for so long!

And you know another thing I love? Advent calendars. The holiday season is so special to me, I get to spend time with loved ones, cuddle by the fire, and read good books. But let’s be honest, I also love the gifts! I love giving and receiving gifts. So one thing I like to do throughout the holiday season is to treat others and myself. A great way to do that is through advent calendars.

What is better than waking up every day and getting to open a small gift for yourself? Nothing. Nothing is better. I am a strong believer that we should have advent calendars every day of the year. I want fun chocolates or tasty teas every day, is that too much to ask?

Plus, there are so many fun advent calendars being released in recent years! The other day, I bought a jams and spreads advent calendar! I get to open 12 jams and spreads this December, and I couldn’t be more excited.

This year, Adagio Teas has combined two of my favorite things, tea and advent calendars! They have created two jam-packed advent calendars full of 24 teas each! Every day in December I get to open a little door and be surprised by a new, holiday-themed tea blend!

By the way, this will be a post free from spoilers on the teas! So you are safe to read this post if you want to be surprised by the teas you get!

What is a Tea Advent Calendar?

The history of advent calendars themselves is interesting to me. I understand that they started out as a way to count down the days until Christmas. However, I am curious how they started getting filled with things like chocolate, and eventually, the calendars we see today, filled with things like soups and socks. I love looking at how traditions change.

The most common advent calendar is definitely a chocolate calendar. You open a little window every day and you get a winter-themed chocolatey treat. I have had many of these throughout my life, you can find them at most grocery stores throughout November and December.

In recent years, there has definitely been a boom in advent calendars. I have seen many unique calendars full of make-up, crochet supplies, marshmallows, and more. I bet you could find just about anything in an advent calendar.

But whatever the reason for this explosion in creativity surrounding advent calendars, I am living for it. I can get a calendar specifically curated to my interests. And in the winter, there is nothing better than a warm cup of tea on a cold winter day. Working early in the morning, there is nothing I want more than some tea to warm me from the inside out. Bonus if they are seasonal! Pumpkin chai in the fall, mango black tea for the summer, and blueberry lavender for the spring. I love me some seasonal teas!

This is why I am so excited about Adagio Tea’s 24 Days of Tea Advent Calendar! This calendar offers 24 different winter-inspired tea blends. With this calendar, you get to open a door to a new tea flavor every day leading up to Christmas! What more could you ask for?

This calendar is offered in both loose-leaf and tea-bag options, each featuring 24 unique holiday-themed blends! All of the teas included in both the loose-leaf and tea bag calendars are gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, and vegan-friendly!

Adagio Teas has been making tea advent calendars for a couple of years now, and they definitely know what they are doing! I won’t spoil it for you, but the teas included in this tea advent calendar sound amazing, I can’t wait to start my morning with one of these every day!

You can catch me waking up every morning next month enjoying the wafting aromas of the season. I am truly going to feel like I am in a Hallmark Christmas movie.

5 Books to Read While Enjoying a Cup of Tea

With all of this talk about tea, I am craving some cozy time with a warm cup and a good book! Nothing pairs better with tea than books, which is why I love the holiday season so much. The weather is cooler, I can cuddle up with my dog next to a crackling fire with a warm cup of tea in hand. Is there anything better than that?

So, I thought it would be essential to add some winter book recommendations for when you’re sipping on the exciting teas you pull out of the 24 Days of Tea Advent Calendar!

Title: The Starless Sea

Author: Erin Morgenstern

Whenever I think of tea, the number one book I think about is The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. I have never read a book cozier and homier than The Starless Sea. This story is about Zachary Ezra Rawlins, a graduate student who comes across a book. As he reads this book, he finds a story of his own childhood, which feels impossible. However, opening this random book opens the door to a world full of magic, mystery, and giant libraries full of endless amounts of books and cats.

Title: The Tea Dragon Society

Author: K. O’Neill

Genre: Fantasy, Graphic Novel

If The Tea Dragon Society has 100 fans, I am one. If it has 1 fan, that is me. And if it has 0 fans, then I am dead. I have talked about this graphic novel on my blog so many times, that people are probably tired of hearing about it, but I don’t care. This graphic novel brings all the warm, fuzzy, wholesome feelings.

This is a story about Greta, who has just entered the dying field of raising tea dragons. These little creatures have the ability to grow tea leaves from their horns. You can’t tell me there is a more perfect story to cuddle up with while drinking a warm cup of tea!

Title: The Housekeeper and the Professor

Author: Yōko Ogawa

Genre: Literary Fiction

Whenever I want to curl up with a book and a cup of tea, I always reach for the quiet books. The books that have very little adventure but a whole lot of heart and emotion. That is exactly what you get from The Housekeeper and the Professor. This story is about a Housekeeper and her young son, who start working at the home of a mathematics professor who suffered from a traumatic brain injury. He now only has about eighty minutes of short-term memory, after which everything he has said and done during that time erases.

I read this book a couple of years ago with absolutely no idea what I was getting into. It ended up being one of my favorite reads. This book is quiet and thoughtful, with characters that are easy to become attached to. Perfect for a cold winter’s night in.

Title: The Poet X

Author: Elizabeth Acevedo

Genre: Poetry, Young Adult

If you are looking for an audiobook to read while sipping on some tea, I would strongly recommend The Poet X. Narrated by the author themself, this audiobook is done in the style of spoken word. It tells the story of Xiomara, who turns to writing and poetry as she navigates family, friendship, and a first crush. This story is powerful and lyrical, I highly recommend listening to the audiobook!

Title: A Curse So Dark and Lonely

Author: Brigid Kemmerer

Genre: Fantasy, Young Adult

If you are looking for a cozy fantasy to read while drinking your tea, I recommend A Curse So Dark and Lonely. This story is a retelling of the tale of Beauty and the Beast. This novel follows Harper, who is unexpectedly pulled from the streets of Washington DC into the magical world of Emberfall. Here, she meets Rhen, who has been turned into a vicious beast who believes that the only way out of this curse is to fall in love.

This book has all of the action and adventure you want from a fantasy. But it also has moments of quiet, where the characters are sitting by a fire and playing card games. This is a warm and cozy fantasy perfect for winter. All I want to do is cuddle with a warm cup of tea and fall into the pages of this world.

I honestly can’t believe that winter is finally here! I feel like just yesterday I was sweating in the summer weather. Maybe that’s because I was literally sweating yesterday in 80-degree weather… I am so excited that it is almost time to stay warm, by chilling by the fire with a warm drink and a good book.

If you are looking for something fun to add to your holiday season, don’t forget to check out Adagio Tea’s 24 Days of Tea. There is nothing better than having a unique, winter-inspired tea every day!
