Halloween Book Tag

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I can’t believe we are here. Way back, on October 1, it felt like this day was years away, but now it is here. It feels good. And you know what, it finally feels like fall where I’m from. No more 95 degree days! It is in the 70s, I can finally wear a sweater without looking weird. It is beautiful and I am beyond thrilled. I think the hot weather put me into a bit of a reading/life slump this month, so I am excited to be dragging myself out of that! To do that, I will be completing the Halloween Book Tag!

Of course, I had to save this tag until the very end! It is all about today! I saw this tag on The Awkward Book Blogger‘s page last year, and the original creator of the tag is Naomi from Booktube. This tag is full of so many fun Halloween activities and stuff that make me super nostalgic! I seriously hate being an adult… [insert grumpy face]

Also, this is one of the last times I get to use my favorite pumpkin border until next year. I love my little hand-drawn pumpkins!

Carving Pumpkins: What book would you carve up and light on fire?

Well, I am not planning on Carving or igniting any books anytime soon…

Book cover of Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco

Okay, I am not saying this is a definitively bad book, because I don’t believe that. I understand why it is such a popular book in this community! I can see why people enjoy it so much. I just didn’t. As you know, I wrote a full review of this book, but I struggled to get into this book, and I wasn’t as drawn in as I was hoping.

Trick or Treating: What character is a trick, and what character is a treat?

Okay, for trick I am going with Minya. Obviously, she wasn’t the warmest and nicest character from Strange the Dreamer. Yeah, I don’t have much to say about that. For treat, I am selecting Grey from A Curse so Dark and Lonely. I loved reading his interactions with Harper. He was quiet and brooding but also super helpful and caring. I love me some complex characters!

Candy Corn: What book is always sweet, and you will always love it?

I know, I know. I talk about this book a little too much. But it is so SWEET! Just like Halloween candy, which is perfect for today! I just love this book and the characters. It is a graphic novel, so it is easy and fun to read over and over again.

Ghost: What character would you love to have visit you?

Book covers of The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins

I think I am rounding out this month of fall book tags by mentioning all of my typical answers. So, here is The Hunger Games! I would love to have Peeta Mellark visit me and bake me bread. We would paint together and cuddle, drinking hot cocoa while dipping bread rolls in it! Or peppermint tea!

Dressing up in Costumes: What character would you want to be for a day?

Book cover of Bunheads by Sophie Flack

I would probably want to be everyone from this book. With a degree in dance, I was planning on performing as a career, but I recently changed my trajectory. However, I would still love to live that life for a day because dance is such a massive passion of mine, and I hope it is a part of my life forever.

Also, if you want to dress up as a bookish character for Halloween… maybe this weekend lol… then check out this post.

Wizards and Witches: What is your favorite Harry Potter moment?

(Fans of Ron and Hermione, you may want to look away…)

I’m sorry. I have to say it. I think Harry should have ended up with Hermione. I’m sorry to all the Hermione and Ron fans. Anyway, this scene, especially in the book, was so wonderful. It put such a huge smile on my face!

Blood and Gore: What book was so creepy that you had to take a break from it for a while?

I think I have talked about this book a couple times, but it is CREEPY!! I think I really need to reread this book because I have never been so spooked by a book. This is also part of a series that I hope to finish, so I need to remember what actually happened in the first book.

Hi, pumpkin border… again. I will miss you.

Yes, I have used every answer in this post about 100 times already. But! I had to round out this Blogtober with a bang!

And with that, it is over. It really is Halloween, marking the end of not only October but BLOGTOBER! And can I just say, this was my first successful Blogtober and I am very proud of myself! Especially because I did 0 planning before this month, I honestly have no idea how I did it. But my work isn’t done, because I am moving from Blogtober to NaNoWriMo! November is going to be just as busy, if not more. But it will be fun!

Thank you all for sticking with me through my first Blogtober! I can’t wait for next year. Or Blogmas, whatever that is!?

Love, Jackie
