Do you remember last year during blogtober, when I did a book tag every single day of the month? Okay, I just went back and counted, I did 13 book tags in the month of October 2019. That is almost half of the month! It was my very first blogtober, and I hadn’t planned at all, so the easiest thing to do was book tags! And by the end of the month I was so tired of them I didn’t want to do another book tag again.
But, I am doing so much better this year at putting out interesting and original posts that I am actually proud of this year!
I found this tag on Monica Kim’s channel and the original creator of the tag is The Bookish Belle. They are both wonderful bookish creators, so definitely go give their YouTube channels a peak! You might just find something you’ll like.
What book always reminds you of Autumn?
I am cheating a little on this one because The Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo is my current read, but I didn’t really read spooky Autumnal reads before this year, so I don’t have a lot of other options. I am just over halfway through this book and it definitely gives me all the spooky fall vibes. Rushing through New Haven in the cold, scarf blowing behind you from a gust of wind. It has all the dark academia vibes I could ask for. It is also half set in fall so… perfect!
What is your favorite Autumnal book cover?
I tried reading The Near Witch by V.E. Schwab last year and I never actually finished it. I don’t think it intrigued me as much as I thought it would. Anyway, one thing about the cover, however, is how Autumnal it is! The tree! It is simple fall aesthetics.
What is your favorite Autumnal drink?
There is nothing better than a warm cup of hot cocoa while I am reading. Lately, I have been adding some caramel creamer to it and putting pumpkin-flavored whipped cream on top. DELICIOUS!
Do you prefer to read late at night or early in the morning?
I am 100% a night reader. However, recently I have been wanting to start reading a couple chapters in the morning because when I get home from work I am so tired, that I can barely read a few pages before falling asleep. But that would also mean that I would have to wake up early to have time to read so… We have come across my main problem in life?
Halloween is coming, what is a favorite spooky book?
This may not have been a 5-star read for me, but I did want to pick some newer books for this book tag. Home Before Dark by Riley Sager was a really well constructed and strong horror novel from a season horror writer. It was my second horror novel ever, so it was a wonderful dive into the genre, and I am planning on reading more from this author soon.
What is your ultimate comfort read?
Oops, I can’t go a whole tag without mentioning my favorite book, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. But come on! Of course, I have to mention this book for this prompt, it is my ultimate comfort read and makes me feel all cozy and warm when I read it like I am coming home.
What is your favorite Autumnal reading snack?
…candy corn
I know so many people hate candy corn but I love it. And a bonus, it is a very clean snack. There is no residue on my fingers so it won’t get on my book or my kindle.
What is your favorite Autumnal candle?
I am obsessed with the Leaves candle from Bath and Body Works. It has apple and spice and everything nice. It is seriously one of my favorite candles, I get it every year and burn it all the time. It makes everything so warm and wonderful.
When you’re not reading, what is your favorite autumnal activity?
When I’m not reading, I am watching TV and films. I love having spooky binge sessions during the fall season, watching all the amazing classic Halloween movies like Halloweentown and Hocus Pocus. Check out my Halloweentown Book Tag that I created last year if you love the movie!
What is on your Autumn reading list?
Oh gosh so much. I did a whole blog post for this, which you can read here, but this is my next read so I thought I would feature it here. The Diviners by Libba Bray is supposed to be a very spooky and very atmospheric book so I’m excited.
Okay, this was one of my favorite tags I have done during the fall months. I loved how some of the questions were focused on things unrelated to books but definitely related to the Autumn vibe!
I had a lot of fun doing this tag, so definitely props to the creator, The Book Belle.
