The Christmas Eve Book Tag

For the next two days, I am going to take a break from my regular content of book recommendations and bookish discussions, and I am going to have some fun for the holidays by completing some book tags! Appropriately, today I will be completing The Christmas Eve Book Tag.

And with that, I want to wish everyone a very happy holiday, and Merry Christmas Eve to those who celebrate. It has been a long year, and I am super excited to kick back, relax, and enjoys some holiday festivities.

Do you have any traditions for this time of year? My family has a lot of traditions that really make this day great. We always spend the day baking, watching holiday movies, and then at night we go out and look at Christmas lights in our town. It is a super special time that we get to spend together.

Traditions have always been super special in my home. Even when life got rocky, my family always made sure that we continued our traditions. Each year it feels so comforting coming back to these things. I am very privileged to have this in my life.

This might also explain why I really hate change…

Anyway, let’s answer some fun holiday questions with The Christmas Eve Book Tag! I found these questions on Kristen Kraves Books, so go check out their page to see their answers! The original creator of this tag is Sam’s Nonsense on Youtube, so check them out as well! This is such a fun tag!

1. Christmas Eve morning: What is a book you wake up excited to read? One you anticipate reading or one you read in the past that you want to get back into?

One of my favorite feelings in the world is feeling the excitement to open a good book. Whether it is one I have been anticipating for a while or one I am currently reading, and loving. Whatever the reason, I absolutely love that feeling.

I have been reading Beasts of Prey by Ayana Gray for a little over a week, and every time I wake up, I am excited to read more.

Of course, life has been getting in the way and I haven’t had the chance to really get into the story. I am still being introduced to the setting and characters, but from what I can tell, this is going to be a good book.

2. Christmas Eve breakfast: What are your favourite treats during the holiday season?

Oh, throwing hardball questions my way I see! How am I possibly supposed to choose just one favorite treat for the holiday season?

Well, I won’t… I don’t listen to directions. But here are a few of my favorites:

  • Russian tea cake cookies
  • Peanut butter and chocolate fudge
  • My mom’s magic cookie bar

Those are just a few of my favorites but there are so many more! Luckily my house has an endless supply of yummy treats this time of year.

3. Family Time: What is a book that fills you with happiness and love, or warm fuzzies in general?

When I think of books that give me all the warm and fuzzy feelings, I think of my comfort books. The books that mean so much to me because I either read them in a time that I really needed them, or they spoke to me on a deeper level.

For me, the first book that comes to my mind is The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern.

Just thinking about this book makes me happy. Something about the vibe makes me feel so cozy. Ever since reading The Night Circus by the same author, I have been a huge fan. From the descriptions to the characterization, these books have everything I could want from a story.

Christmas Carols: What are your favorite Christmas Carols or holiday songs?

Hands down my favorite Christmas song is…

I Wanna Hippopotamus for Christmas

Anticipation: What is a book release you are very much anticipating?

For this question, I am going to talk about one of my most anticipated book releases for January and that is The Ivory Key by Akshaya Raman.

Other than the absolutely gorgeous cover, the premise of this book sounds so promising! In a world where magic is coveted, but running out, four siblings must get together to find the ivory key, which is rumored to unlock a massive source of magic.

You hear sleigh bells on the roof and are so excited you can’t sleep!: What is a book that kept you up all night?

Not sure if this question is about a book that kept me up all night because it was that good. Or if it is about a book that creeped me out so much I couldn’t sleep. Since this is The Christmas Even Book Tag, it probably isn’t asking for scary books.

But either way, in true Christmas spirit, I will be talking about a horrifying book, Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Basterrica.

This book is truly… horrifying. There is no other word to describe it. This book is about a society that has decided to eat people when a disease makes all other animals inedible. Like… they actually eat people.

My jaw was on the ground, my stomach was in knots, and I certainly didn’t get a good night of sleep after finishing this novella.

It’s Christmas morning, and Santa has come: What is a book on your wishlist that you hope to unwrap?

My answer to this question is for purely aesthetic reasons. Which is why I buy most of my physical books anymore because I listen to so many audiobooks.

But the premise of House of Hollow by Kyrstal Sutherland also sound pretty great as well.

This book cover is so hauntingly beautiful, I just want to display it on my bookshelves. But beside that, the plot of this story is about Iris, who loses her sister under suspicious circumstances. But when she goes looking for her, some weird stuff starts happening to her.

I love the horror genre, and with all the positive reviews I have been seeing, I am sure that this will quickly become a favorite for me.

I am writing this post after a long day filled with family, tradition, and a lot of fudge. I am full, happy, and exhausted.

I am also excited by the prospect that a new year is coming. I may talk about that a lot, but it is true. Time to make all my goals happen!

I hope everyone is having a restful and relaxing holiday season! Thanks for joining me for The Christmas Eve Book Tag!
