Bookish Small Businesses You Need to Know About: The Best Shops for Book Lovers

Am I the only one who always buys a Christmas present for myself? I have had a pretty long and difficult year, and sometimes I just want to spoil myself! Last year I bought myself one of the “jumbeau” sized Book Beaus, and I love it. With dogs reading books all over it, it is one of my favorite things I own. So in the spirit of treating myself, I wanted to share some of my favorite bookish small businesses.

Ever since I was young, I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I used to work around my neighborhood for money, I have attempted to start many small businesses, and now I am working on turning my two blogs into a business. I have always been interested in being my own boss and making money doing something I love.

This is why I understand how difficult it can be to run a small business. There is so much that goes into it, I am constantly amazed at all the work people put into something they are passionate about. I love that energy and drive!

It is also the best time to shop, because after Christmas sales are coming! So it is prime time to get something for yourself at a really good deal!

So if you are on the lookout for some retail therapy, check out these bookish small businesses! Maybe you will find something for yourself or others!

Why You Should Shop with Small Businesses

We all know it is easy to find literally anything you want from big online retailers. We all know the one I am talking about, Mr. Bezos. Jeff. Jefferey. Trust me, despite understanding the reasons to avoid Amazon, I still shop there. I’m guilty.

But there are so many reasons why, if you have the means, you should be giving your money to small businesses. And as a reader, they should be bookish small businesses. Here are some reasons:

  • Support someone’s dream and art
  • Distribute wealth to non-billionaires
  • Get cool and unique products
  • Encourage more creatives in the bookish community

If you have the means, and there is a small business that sells it, I am always an advocate of supporting them. Most of the time it is one person, or a small team of people, and your sale can put a huge smile on their face.
