Spooky Would you Rather Book Tag

When you were younger, did you ever play would you rather with your friends? I remember sitting on the bus playing this on the way to school trips. Questions like, “would you rather be stung by a bee or bit by a spider?” Well, I saw this spooky would you rather book tag on The Bookish Chick, and it took me right back to those innocent bus days. Also, I am a spooky fan, so these questions might present quite a pickle!

1. Thriller or Supernatural?

Oh, I see we are starting with a difficult question from the very beginning! How am I supposed to pick between these two? I love both thriller and supernatural books! If I have to pick one, I am going with supernatural. I love reading about witches and ghosts. These books can be so atmospheric, and they draw me in! But sometimes, real-life thrillers can be even scarier because they are more likely to happen!

2. Ghosts or Zombies?

I have been a HUGE fan of ghosts ever since I was little and I used to watch Truth or Scare on Nickelodeon! Then, I grew up and I would watch ghost shows on the Travel channel with my dad.

3. Vampires or Werewolves?

Wow, did this question just describe the entire plot of the Twilight series? Honestly, I think I am going to have to go with werewolves! Although, when I read this book in middle school, I was definitely team Edward. However, as an adult, Edward is just creepy and old. Therefore, team werewolf! Except… not Jacob because he was creepy too, with that whole imprinting thing. But, we don’t have to talk about that.

4. Witches or Demons?

For books, definitely witches! As I said, these books are usually super atmospheric, and they are so hard to put down. But, if we are talking movies, I am going to have to say demons. Stories about possessions, like The Conjuring, get me every time. I definitely need to read more books like this. Any recommendations?

5. Would you rather read a book with 13 chapters or a book with a black cat on the cover?

A black cat on the cover! Honestly, either of these would be fine, because I am not very superstitious (I am a little) but I have always wanted a black cat, so I would have to pick that option. I may or may not want to name the cat Salem. I guess we will have to wait and see!

6. Would you rather read a spooky book in the dark with only a candle for light, or by yourself in a locked brightly lit room?

What a difficult question. Both of them seem equally creepy and not creepy. Am I locked locked? Like can I leave to get a snack? Will snacks be provided? How bright is the candle?

I guess I will go with locked in a brightly lit room, only so I don’t strain my eyes. I want to protect my vision, right? Also, dark rooms can make the imagination run wild!

7. Would you rather face your worst fears, or be trapped in the mind of a killer?

Well, I have a very specific fear that I have to face all the time. I am latrophobic, which means I have severe anxiety when it comes to anything doctor or medical-related. Yes, that means I have never seen Grey’s Anatomy. Unfortunately, I am unable to avoid this fear, especially because it is mixed with my hypochondriasis. I know, I am a fun person to be around!

So, I am choosing to be trapped in the mind of a killer. I hope I won’t be trapped for too long. But I will definitely learn a lot. Also, I am one of those people who are really interested in the psychology of serial killers.

I read Pretty Wicked about one year ago, and it is told from the perspective of a teenage serial killer. I didn’t enjoy this book very much, but this question made me think of it. It might have been the fact that it was a fifteen-year-old committing murder but… who knows.

8. Would you rather watch a scary movie or read a scary book?

Reading a scary book, of course! I am a book blog, aren’t I? Now, don’t get me wrong, I am all for a good scary movie, and I usually have to watch them alone because I have LITERALLY nobody who will watch them with me. But, I am a sucker for horror books!

9. Would you rather read spooky books during the fall time or all year?

All year! My reading taste definitely falls in the spookier side of things. It is rare for me to read contemporary, fluffy reads, although I do enjoy those from time to time. My favorite genre is fantasy, which usually falls closer to the spooky side on the spectrum. Also, I literally watch ghost shows and movies year-round, if that gives you any indication of how much I love spooky things.

10. Would you rather read 10 spooky books in October or 10 spooky books all year?

Hmm, this one definitely made me think. I guess I am going to say I would rather read 10 spooky books all year. Based on the last question, you can see how much I love spooky books, so I am deciding to spread them out throughout the year instead of consolidating them into one month. But in real life, I definitely want more than 10 spooky books in my year!
