I am here with a different kind of post today. I know I have been yelling about my love for all things spooky, and I totally mean it, those are my favorite kinds of books. Also, what better month than October? I wrote a whole post about the spooky books I was planning on reading this month. However, I know sometimes, this month becomes over-saturated with dark and paranormal books. So, today I created a list of some sweet, light, and fluffy book recommendations. The books you read in between horror and thriller books so you can still walk downstairs in the middle of the night without running at top speed. Maybe…

1. The Maybe Boyfriend by Christina Benjamin

Honestly, most of the books in the boyfriend series by Christina Benjamin give me all the warm and fuzzies, but I loved this one in particular. My full review of this book can be found here, but just imagine a romance set in Ireland with super deep yet relatable characters! This is a super quick read that is perfect to break up your dark horror novels.

2. The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O’Neil

If you have been reading my blog for long, I probably don’t need to say much about this one. But, I will say that this graphic novel is so sweet and heartwarming, I can never wipe the smile off my face while I am reading it.

3. The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

This is another quick read to fit in between your heavier October reads. Most of this book occurs over the course of one day, which makes this story of family, new love, and heart go by in a flash. There is also a depth to the story that will make you think beyond your average YA contemporary.

4. Holding up the Universe by Jennifer Niven

I am sure you have heard about this book, especially if you were a part of the book internet community five years ago. Jennifer Niven is a favorite amongst contemporary YA authors and this book is no exception. This book follows one of my favorite fictional couples as they navigate a new relationship and high school. This book is quick and sweet, like a piece of Halloween candy!

5. Off the Page by Jodi Picoult and Samantha Van Leer

I read this book a long LONG time ago, so please don’t ask me questions about it. But, I remember absolutely loving the concept of this book. Can you imagine if your favorite fictional love interest actually came out of the book? Isn’t that everyone’s dream? This book was fun and innovative! It is a sequel, but it can be read as a stand-alone, which is what I did. Of course, Jodi Piccoult is well-known in the contemporary YA world.

6. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid blew up within the book internet community last year. I could barely scroll through twitter without reading a raving tweet about this book. So, of course, I was thrilled to find the audiobook on Libby, and as soon as I read it, I understood why everyone loved it. This book is not always light but it definitely ends up sweet.

Bonus: Books on my TBR

I have not been able to read either of these, but by the summaries, I think they fit perfectly into this list. If you have read either of these, let me know what you think! Do they fit into this list?
