September TBR & Read-a-Thon

Does that title sound familiar? Well, it should. It is basically the same title as last month because I am now a read-a-thon aficionado apparently. I successfully completed a read-a-thon for the first time last month, reading all the books on my TBR. Granted, it was only my second try but still, I am so proud of myself. Despite this, I planned on taking a break in September before the 100 read-a-thon’s I was hoping to participate in during the month of October. As you can see… this did not happen.

To explain, I was talking to the wonderful Alexa from Traveling Reads on Twitter and Youtube and she mentioned the Monster-a-Thon. Long story short, I am now doing the Monster-a-Thon this month.

Honestly, I am thrilled. After learning more about it, I can’t wait to participate and scare some villagers! Also, I had the best reading month of the year in August, all thanks to the wonderful Disney Read-a-Thon, so here’s hoping this continues this month!

Anyway, usually, I am the biggest mood reader. But, I was able to stick to my TBR in August, so I am going to try again this month. So let’s set this in stone!

The Prompts…

Classic Creepers: Read a book with a classic horror monster

Sabrina the Teenaged WITCH. I think that about covers it, despite her not being the stereotypical cackling witch.

What big eyes you have: Read a book that is over 400 pages

Book cover of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

This will be a reread for me. I adored this book when I read it four years ago, and I am thrilled to get the opportunity to read it again. All 500 pages of it!

Chimera: Read a book that could be classified under multiple genres

Book cover of The Line Between by Tosca Lee

According to Goodreads, this is a mystery, thriller, and dystopian. *shoulder shrug* I’m down.

The real monsters: Read a book featuring monstrous humans

Book cover of Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson

I don’t know a lot about this book, other than it is categorized as a murder-mystery. In that case, I feel like there has to be a monstrous human within its pages… right? Also, the title. It literally has devious in the title.

Unsightly: Read a comic/graphic novel/manga featuring a monster

Cover of the graphic novel, sheets by Brenna Thummler

I know monsters are supposed to be scary, but this little baby ghost does not look scary. Oh well, this looks too adorable to pass up!

Angry Mob: Read a book recommended to you by more than one person

Book cover of A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

I don’t even think I could count how many times this book has been recommended to me. I guess its time to get to it.

Sacrifice: Read a book that you’ve seen in an unhaul video

Book cover of Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

With all the mixed reviews of this book, I have seen it included many times in unhaul videos. However, I thought I would give it a try!

The Beasts: Read a book with a monster with plant or animal traits

Book cover of This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab

This book is about a city overrun with monsters. Let’s hope one of them has either plant or animal traits about them. Also, this book has been on my TBR forever! I have heard so many good things about it!

The Haunts: Read a book with a monster that is dead or undead

Book Cover or Bad Girls Don't Die by Katie Alender

According to Goodreads, this is a ghost story. I have owned this middle-grade for years, but don’t know much about it. However, I am looking forward to reading about ghosts!

The Conspiracies: Read a book with an alien, robot, or sci-fi based creature

Book cover of Gemina by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman

I mean, I think Aiden will be in this book, so I’m pretty sure it will qualify. Anyway, I am sure there is some sci-fi type character in this book. Plus, I just really want to continue on with this series.

As you can see, this is a TON of books, and I have no intention of reading every single one. Last month, I read five books, but I wanted to prepare a selection for each prompt just in case… I don’t know, I went wild. I am also planning on doubling up on a couple of these prompts, but I wanted an option for each just in case. This TBR may change throughout the month as well because I am such a mood reader, as I mentioned.

I am so looking forward to this month of scaring villagers!

Go Team Conspiracies!

    1. This read-a-thon is so unique! I was planning on taking a month off but that didn’t happen haha! Thank you, and goof luck with your TBR!

    1. I am so excited about that one. I am on season 2 of the Netflix series, and as soon as I finish, I am planning on picking this one up. I hope you enjoy it!

    1. I actually learned about the graphic novel from your review, and I fell in love with the art style. I finished it a couple days ago, and it was definitely a 5/5 star read for me! Thank you!
