Have you heard? It’s finally fall, which means you may all refer to me as Jackie-o-Lantern from now on. I will not answer to anything else. While perusing the bookternet, I stumbled upon the “Finally Fall Book Tag” on Reagan from PeruseProject‘s Youtube channel. The tag went around a couple years ago so I thought it would be fun to bring it back on my blog. I believe the Youtube channel, Tall Tales, created this however I can’t seem to find this person or their videos, so if you know who I can credit for this wonderful tag, tell me!
Anyways, Grab your sweaters because we are going full Fall in this house!

In the fall, the air is crisp and clear: Name a book with a vivid setting

Not to stick with the spooky theme, but I was blown away by the atmosphere that Sara Faring created in The Tenth Girl. While I read this book, I was immediately transported to the Vaccaro School on the top of a mountain in Argentina. I could feel the cold from the icebergs. Along with the slow degradation of the building, Faring spared no expense in using all five, or six ;), senses to wrap the reader into Mavi’s story. You can find my full review here if you are curious about this gem of a story.
Nature is beautiful, but also dying: Name a book that is beautifully written but also deals with a heavy topic like loss or grief

I am actually stealing my answer to this question from Reagan because I don’t read a lot of books with themes of loss or grief. At a very young age, I read The Book Theif and it became one of the first books that I was able to call a favorite. Although I am in definite need of a reread, I remember this to be an enriching and powerful story.
Fall is the back-to-school season: Name a non-fiction novel that has taught you something

I read Nisei Daughter last year and it completely blew me away with the story that Monica Sone told. This story follows a Japanese American family from Seatlle during WW2. Of course, throughout my academic career, I studied this era and internment camps, however, this story put it in a personal perspective that you don’t get from textbooks.
In order to keep warm, it is good to spend time with people you love: Name a fictional family or household that you wish to be a part of

I don’t know how many times I have said this, but I want to join this found family and adopt a tea dragon of my very own SO BAD. Who wouldn’t want little smushy babies that grow tea from their horns? Also, I love the non-dragon characters because they were so sweet and wholesome. Basically, I would die to be transported into this book.
Fall is the perfect time for storytelling by the fireplace: Share a book where somebody is telling a story

I absolutely adored the frame that this story was written in. This type of storytelling often puts me off, however, Reid does it beautifully in this book. I listened to this through the audiobook, and I understand why it got the hype it did on the internet. For once, the hype didn’t fail.
Nights are getting darker: Name a dark and creepy read

I read this book a long time ago, however, I remember it absolutely spooking me! I distinctly remember finishing a chapter and then needing to grab something from down the hall. Let’s just say, I ran… I would love to give this book a reread, so I can remember why it creeped me out so much! I mean, look at the cover!
The days are getting colder: Name a short, heartwarming read that could warm up somebody’s cold and rainy day

I read this a couple months ago and fell in love with the characters. I struggled to wipe the smile off my face while I was reading, laughing at the adorable banter between the two main characters. Please, if you ever feel like smiling, read this graphic novel.
Fall luckily returns every year: Name an old favorite that you’d like to return to soon

Depending on how long you have been with me, you may know that The Hunger Games is the book series that got me into reading and blogging. I love this book, and I have reread it four times now. However, it has been a while, so I am definitely in need of a reread. And, maybe a movie night to go with it!
Fall is the perfect time for cozy reading nights: share your favorite cozy reading accessories
I have a very simple list of requirements for a cozy night in reading.
- A book (duh)
- Comfy socks, like my jack-o-lantern ones
- Candle, preferably pumpkin-scented
- My favorite blanket (It’s soft!)
- Hot coffee/cocoa
That’s pretty much it. Give me those things and I can be occupied for hours.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I will go have a comfy reading night. Those questions definitely got me in the mood! I’m off the make my pumpkin spiced latté!

Tea Dragon Society was so cute!!
The cutest! I want a tea dragon so bad!
Oooh I love this tag!
Your cosy reading night sounds perfect, I love curling up in a blanket nest with a warm drink and a good book.

It is the best feeling in the world! I would do it every night if I could!
I absolutely loved Evelyn Hugo! I was worried after all the hype I’d be disappointed and I really wasn’t 🙂
I was definitely worried too because I have been let down so many times! Glad you enjoyed it as well!
Tea Dragon Society is such an adorable book! I am also hoping to reread The Hunger Games soon!
Yes! I am trying to plan my reread right before the new book comes out haha!
omg yes i NEED my own tea dragon so badly
Great post, personally, I enjoyed Evelyn Hugo, but I really prefer TJR’s earlier books.
