Cozy Book Recommendations: Old Favorites and New Discoveries

With only three months left in 2019, I have been thinking about the things I enjoy during this time of year. Because these months lie within the best seasons, Autumn and Winter, I like to fill my time with cozy things, which includes music, movies, and of course, books. One of my favorite things to do is curl up under a cozy blanket with a warm drink and a good book. So, I decided to make a list of my favorite cozy books that I like to read during Fall and Winter! You’ll find some old favorites and some new discoveries!

Book Covers of the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

Okay, I am going to start this off with an easy one. The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling is known for its whimsical and fun setting. I can’t help but yearn for these books during the colder months of the year. While I am reading them, I like to imagine myself in the Ravenclaw common room at Hogwarts with all my classmates drinking some butterbeer and eating pumpkin pasties. Oh, how I wish that was real…

Book covers of The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins

Alright, this one might be a little bias but, it is my blog right? This series holds such a dear place in my heart because it is the reason I got into reading in the first place, and it introduced me to the book internet world. This series also prompted me to create my bookstagram and later my blog. For some reason, reading about Katniss climbing trees or storming the capital with Finnick, I just feel so warm and cozy. I think these books are like a comfort blanket for me.

Book cover of A Curse so Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer

This is a newer addition to my list of cozy books. Let me tell you, while I read this, all I wanted was a warm fireplace and snow falling from the sky (which doesn’t happen where I live). The way Brigid Kemmerer described the setting made me want to dive in and play cards with Harper and Grey. Also, I would die to live in that castle and have fresh food ready for me every day. If that doesn’t put the warm and fuzzies in you, I don’t know what will. Of course, ignoring the whole, stuck there/curse aspect!

Are they not called cozy mysteries for a reason? Recently, I have been loving a good mystery to warm me up in the fall and winter. This one took me on a crazy ride that kept me turning the page again and again. Honestly, it was shocking how much I enjoyed this. I can’t wait for the next cozy mystery book I read that can surprise me as much as this one! Click here to see my full review!

This book was short, sweet, and cozy! This is another mystery with a fantastical twist. Of course, when you add the boarding school aspect to it, I can’t resist! Similar to Harry Potter, adding a boarding school to a book will inevitably have me imagining myself eating the food and spending time with the people.

Book Cover of Nimona by Noelle Stevenson

As a novice graphic novel reader, I am discovering so many wonderful and unique stories. This book drew me in completely, to the point of not being able to put it down until I read the very last page. I had all the warm feelings while reading the relationship develop between Nimona and Ballister Blackheart.
