5 September Releases You Should Add to Your TBR

It’s September! This means people can finally stop looking at me weirdly when I am celebrating Autumn because it is socially acceptable now! Plus, I am way more motivated to read this time of year than during the summer, so I am in a pretty good mood. The only problem with my increased reading is my increased spending on books. Instead of working down my over 400 book TBR, I just add twice as much to the list as I read. And that includes these new September releases.

Check out this post if you want to see what I have on my September TBR! Lots of fun books.

There are so many fun and intriguing books coming out this month, I can’t wait to add them all to the ever-growing list that is my TBR. This is the time of year when my absolute favorite books are coming out. I live for anything dark, filled with magic, and spooky, and September releases are full of those books.

Oh, this book has everything a reader can ask for. The Bones of Ruin by Sarah Raughley has tight rope dancers, dark and mysterious love interests, magic, immortality, and an apocalypse. AN APOCALYPSE. I don’t know if I have ever been so excited about a book. And as I always point out, the cover! I can’t wait to finally read this book in a few short days (or for me, probably a few short years).

When Clare’s sister comes back from a hotel completely changed, Clare visits that same hotel herself to unwind the mystery of what happened there. The Splendor by Breeana Shields looks like it will be full of magic and mystery, the perfect story for the beginning of Autumn. Plus, what can be cozier than a magical hotel?

Defy the Night by Brigid Kemmerer

Title: Defy the Night

Release Date: September 14, 2021

Publisher: Bloomsbury YA

I absolutely adored A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer (review) so it was no question that this book would immediately be added to my TBR. Defy the Night follows the conflict between a prince trying to keep his kingdom from falling apart and a girl trying to destroy it. If that doesn’t make you want to pick up this book I don’t know what will. Sounds like an enemies-to-lovers trope to me!

Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber

I will admit, I have yet to read the Caraval series, so I definitely need to do that too, but Once Upon a Broken Heart is a new series that Stephanie Garber is releasing in the same world as Caraval, but with a new set of characters. It follows Evangeline, who makes a deal with a dark prince in order to stop a wedding between the person she loves and another. I am honestly most excited to just have the cover! I mean look at it! Plus, have you seen the exclusive Barnes and Noble edition? It’s pink and way too pretty to not be in my posession.

I mean, the main character in Beasts of Prey by Ayana Gray works in a night zoo full of magical creatures. I was already hooked at that, but then you throw in a magical power being released and I am foaming at the mouth. This book is going to be the beginning of a series that I am sure I and many others will love.

    1. I still have to read books 2 and 3 from the series, but I so loved the first book! It was such a cozy read, which I love this time of year!
