The Hocus Pocus Read-a-Thon

Since October is right around the corner, I couldn’t be more ready for the spooky season! Target is putting out their Halloween decoration, grocery stores are stocked with pumpkin-flavored everything, and Starbucks is serving the famous pumpkin spiced latté. In conclusion, it’s my time to shine! Not only this, but twitter has been flooded with a myriad of fall-themed read-a-thons! Who doesn’t like a good read-a-thon in some cozy fall weather (if it ever shows up)?

Since reading is my happy place, I have been blessed with the opportunity to celebrate my favorite season with my favorite thing! Therefore, along with other amazing readers, I am co-hosting the Hocus Pocus Read-a-Thon! You can click here to visit our twitter page and learn more about this read-a-thon, or continue reading this post!

I am so excited about this, and I am proud of the work me and my fellow hosts have done to create such a fun read-a-thon!

Read-a-Thon Information

The duration of this read-a-thon is from October 1 to October 13. There are three teams, each with a different set of prompts. First, you select a team, and then your goal is to SURVIVE THE NIGHT (a.k.a. win the most points for your team)! In order to join a team, click here to sign-up.

The Prompts

During this read-a-thon, each team has its own selection of prompts. Because I am on Team Sanderson Sisters, I am only going to give the prompts for this team. However, you can find each team prompts by clicking here.

1. Potions, Spells, and Enchantments: Read a book with a witchy main character (5 points)

2. The Sanderson Sisters have risen: Read a book with a female protagonist (5 points)

3. The magic book is calling to you: Read a book that is spellbindingly atmospheric (5 points)

4. The burning rain of death: Read a book that frightens you (5 points)

5. Master satan is pleased with you: Read a book with a powerful villain (5 points)

6. Work together with your team to take down those horrible children and become immortal: Read one of the group books (10 points)

7. Celebrate your victory by watching Hocus Pocus (15 points)

Now, I know what you are thinking, that is a lot of prompts! But we just want everyone to have as much fun as possible, so read as many books as you can (even if that is only 1) because every point is a point earned for your team!

The Tracking

So, for each prompt completed, you will get a certain amount of points, between 5 and 15. In order to track this, we will be using this handy dandy spreadsheet!

So, if you think you are up for the challenge, click on the photo to see the spreadsheet, and to start tracking. You can click on the individual spreadsheet for your team in order to start checking off those points!

The Group Books

In addition to the prompts, we are going to be reading a group book, and we have two options!

I am so excited to read both, and I am going to have a hard time picking one!

To conclude, I hope you are as excited about this read-a-thon as I am, and thanks for letting me talk about Halloween constantly for the next month! I have been waiting so long to finally announce this read-a-thon, and I am so happy to share it with everyone! This is undoubtedly the most exciting part of October!
