The Gods We Knew by Winnie Lyon: Book Cover Reveal

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Christmas? No, I’m talking about cover reveal season. But also, the holidays are pretty great too. Today is the day that The Gods We Knew by Winnie Lyon is finally getting a cover! This book is a contemporary fantasy slated to release in November of 2022, and I am so excited to tell you all about it.

One of the best parts about being a blogger is getting access to book covers, stories, and all things bookish early. I love book covers. If you were to ask me why I purchased most of the books on my shelves, you would get one answer… I judged the book by the cover.

The amount of books I have bought simply because they have a beautiful cover is… unreal. I should probably start reading the summary more, I might get myself into trouble.

There are so many incredible cover artists out there that create such beautiful work, I love owning literal art pieces that I can display on my shelves. Have you ever kept a book that you didn’t particularly like, simply because it had a beautiful cover? Because I definitely have a few of those on my shelf.

So, without further ado, it is time to reveal the beautiful book cover for The Gods We Knew by Winnie Lyon.

What is the book about?

“A cult of vampires. A coven of witches. An eternal war.  Zella Armstrong came to college expecting parties, girls, and new friends with no knowledge of her witchcraft. But when her best friend Summer is attacked at a party by a clan of vampires, she exposes her magic; the cardinal sin of her coven. As it turns out, the vampires are required to deliver new fledglings every six months to Maisie and Harvey, the heads of a top-secret vampire compound.
And after a century, they’re sick of it.
Zella, Summer, and the vampires team up to take out the compound, but the deeper they go, the darker things get. Ancient secrets and divine betrayal unfold as it becomes clear that no one is who they claim to be—or who they think they are. With Zella’s magic on the line for her crime, working with the vampires is the only thing that can save her. Between witchcraft, peril, and romance, the fate of magic itself lies in the hand of some reckless college kids.”

If you know me you know that I am a huge fan of books set in college. I love to relive my glory days in college by reading about it! Except they definitely were not my glory days…but you know what I mean.

The vibe of this book cover is absolutely delicious! I love when it is obvious what genre you are getting when you pick up a book based on the cover. There have definitely been books I have passed up because they look like literary fiction or domestic drama, two genres I don’t read very often. Then I come to find out that they are fantasy books!

This book screams magic and vampires! It is drop-dead gorgeous.

The is one of my favorite cover reveals I have ever done on my blog! I can’t get over how gorgeous this cover is.

I haven’t read a book about vampires in way too long… probably since I read twilight in elementary school. With that being said, I am so excited about this book! Zella sounds like such a fun protagonist, and the promise of secrets and drama make me sure I am going to love The Gods We Knew by Winnie Lyon. I am just curious where the gods come in…

Do you have a 2022 release you are anticipating? Let me know in the comments below! I am so bad at keeping track of that sort of thing.

Love, Jackie
