The Addams Family Book Tag

Okay, I am going to tell you a secret… I have never seen any version of The Addams Family. I have been meaning to for YEARS, but I never catch it during the 31 Nights of Halloween on Freeform. But, I am determined to this year, and as a form of motivation, I will be completing a book tag all about characters I have never heard of before! I found this on For Books Sake, bit the original creator of the tag is Hannah Tay on Youtube.

Alright… *snap snap* Let’s get going!

Morticia Addams, the mother, and the witch: What is your favorite witch book?

Book Covers of the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

Honestly, I think Harry Potter might be the only witchy book I have read… Yikes, don’t be mad! I am working this month to rectify this situation! I have literally FIVE whole witchy books on my TBR for the month. I’ll have a better answer to this question next year!

Gomes Addams is a loving father: Who is your favorite fictional dad?

Book cover of The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O'Neill

I am actually really disappointed that this was such a difficult question to answer. I was looking down the list of books I have read recently, and I couldn’t find any fathers, good or bad. But, I am happy to select Hesekiel from The Tea Dragon Society. Although he wasn’t a father, he was a father figure. I loved how he took care of Minette and Greta, and of course, he took care of all the baby tea dragons.

Uncle Fester Addams can generate electricity: What book makes you light up so much that you can’t stop talking about it?

Book covers of The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins

I am really throwing my love of The Hunger Games in your face this week, aren’t I? I feel like I have been talking about this book like crazy recently. Maybe it was the book cover release of A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes that got me in my 2012 Hunger Games superfan mode. Anyway, I would love to see the light in my eyes when I talk about this series because it is no doubt there.

Wednesday Addams is obsessed with death: If you could have killed off a character in any book, who would it have been?

Book cover of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Although I am not a proponent of murder, I DID NOT like Hector Bowen. He was abusive and manipulative and he wrapped Cecelia into a game where the price of losing was death… What kind of father does that?

Pugsley Addams has a vicious nature and plays nasty pranks on everyone: Who is your favorite villain?

Book covers of The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins

Hey, remember this series? Here I go, talking about it again. My all-time favorite villain is President Snow. However, I am going to say something a little controversial in the book community. It was the movies that made me love President Snow, and that is because I believe that movies did a better job of portraying him than the books… *Hides behind a rock*

*whispers* i also think they did a better job with effie trinket

Fine, I said it! Honestly, I am such a huge fan of both the books and the movies, that I have intermingled them in my mind, and the portrayal of Snow in the movies is cannon in my mind. The push and pull between Katniss and Snow, as portrayed in the movie, is so intriguing. And hey, I don’t blame Suzanne Collins for this. The books are in the first person, so we focus on Katniss!

Okay, here is my rant. Thanks for reading.

Lurch is based on Frankenstein and a zombie: What is your favorite adaptation of a story?

Book cover of A Curse so Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer

I absolutely adored Brigid Kemmerer’s adaptation of the Beauty and the Beast tale. This was the first retelling that I couldn’t put down. It was close enough to the original to appreciate but different enough that I was constantly on the edge of my seat.

Also, if this prompt meant book to movie adaptation, I hope you know my answer is The Hunger Games.

Grandmama is an old classic witch: What is your favorite old classic horror book?

Book cover of The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson

I am going to mess with the prompt a little because I have actually never read a classic horror novel. So, I am selecting a book that is on my TBR for the month. I am buddy reading this with a group of lovely readers, and I am excited to be spooked! Of course, I have to wait two whole weeks for my hold at my library!

Border of hand drawn pumpkins

Okay, now I am really curious about who all of these characters are! I am going to try my hardest to watch some form of The Addams Family this year! The new animated movie looks adorable!

For now, I am off to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas, the ultimate hybrid Halloween/Christmas movie.
