Rapid Fire Book Tag

I have been struggling through a book slump since October 2019. So, consequently, I have not had many books to talk about here. You have probably noticed a significant lack of posts over the past couple of months. But I miss my blog and all you wonderful readers, so I figured a good way to dip my toes back in would be a tag!

Also, with the world right now, it is difficult for me to focus on anything.

The Rapid Fire Book Tag is full of fun, random questions about bookish preferences and such. I found this tag on SpellBookWorm, so go check out their answers, and their beautiful blog!

Ebook or Physical Book?

Physical book! I have tried ebooks a lot, and sometimes I am successful. but for some reason, I am less likely to pay attention to the story when I am reading it electronically. But, I want to keep practicing because of library ebooks and Netgalley.

Paperback or Hardback?

Ummm, both? I always struggle with this question because I honestly like both of them. I don’t mind reading hardcovers, and they are really pretty in pictures. Paperbacks are cheaper and lighter to hold. I don’t think I could pick one.

Online or In-Store Book Shopping?

Online, only because I hate when I am trying to look at a certain shelf of books and there is another person looking at the same shelf. It always makes me feel uncomfortable, to the point where I will walk away, and not look at those books. I know, I’m weird. But I will shop in person for used stores because I can’t do that online, and how could I go wrong with cheap books?

Trilogies or Series?

I am gonna say trilogies, only because I have never read a series longer than three books. But I really want to read the Throne of Glass series and The Lunar Chronicles, so catch me after I read those, to discover my real answer.

Heros or Villains?

Both? I mean, one of my favorite characters in all of literature is President Snow. I find him utterly fascinating (mainly because of his portrayal by Donald Sutherland in the movie). But also, I always want the hero to win right? This question is too black and white for such a grey world! So, both is definitely a good answer.

A Book you Want Everyone to Read?

I want to say Strange the Dreamer or The Hunger Games because they are my favorite books. But I know those aren’t going to appeal to everyone. Then again, no book is going to appeal to everyone.

Recommend an Underrated Book?

I don’t know man, I just really enjoyed this book. I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I did, and I hear absolutely no one talk about it.

Last Book you Finished?

Last Book You Bought?

Weirdest Thing you’ve Used as a Bookmark?

I don’t know. Is it weird to use a gift tag? I am baffled by the people who just remember what page they are on.

Used Books: Yes or No?

Absolutely. Probably half the books on my shelf come from a used book store. I go to my local second-hand store and spend hours looking at every book they have to see if any peak my interest. It is one of my favorite activities.

Top Three Favorite Genres?

  1. Fantasy
  2. Science Fiction
  3. Dystopian

Borrow or Buy?

Buy… used

Characters or Plot?

Both. I need a book to have goof characterization and plot or I won’t be able to connect. If I HAD to pick one, I would say characters. Only because, thinking about reading a book with bland, stale characters, no matter how exciting the plot is, sounds absolutely terrible to me.

Long or Short Books?

Short. At least right now, with everything going on, I have the attention span of a rat. So, yeah…sorry Priory of the Orange Tree.

Long or Short Chapters?

Definitely short. It makes the story move faster and keeps me engaged.

Name the First Three Books you can Think Of?

  1. The Hunger Games
  2. Strange the Dreamer
  3. Night Circus

Wow, I really just named my top three favorite books. I didn’t even mean to do that I swear. I was just trying to think of books off the top of my head, and these are what came.

Books that Make you Laugh or Cry?

Cry. I love the drama. Maybe I haven’t read enough funny books though. Any recommendations?

Our World or Fictional Worlds?

Fictional worlds. Especially now, I am in the mood for escapism.

Audiobooks: Yes or No?

Absolutely. I always have one that I’m reading.

Book to Movie or Book to TV Adaptations?

Umm… movie. But only because I feel like I have had the most success with movies. But I am definitely open. I am looking at you Grisha TV series.

A Movie or TV Show you Prefered to Its Book?

Dumplin’

I liked the book, but I had more fun watching the movie. That might be just because I am not much of a contemporary book reader. It is my second least favorite genre.

Series or Standalone?

Series all the way. I love getting to know a world and characters for a long time. I am craving a good series, which is why I think I will start the Throne of Glass series soon.

Woah, 23 questions! That will tell you a little something about what I like and don’t like when it comes to books. Also, it was just a fun little thing to do while I am stuck inside. Fortunately for me, I am a homebody, but I know this time can be stressful for many.

So, I tag anyone who sees this to complete this tag. It is just something that will take your mind off of… everything, even if only for a little while.

Love, Jackie
