It seems that fall is creeping into every aspect of life these days, food, clothes, and even pet toys. Hey, I’m not complaining! So, the logical conclusion to this is for me to compile a list of my favorite autumnal book covers!
Also, I wanted to give you an update. I have watched The Addams Family! In my post yesterday, I admitted to having never seen it, and that has been changed, so yay! Now I actually know who the characters are.

This one is no doubt one of the spookiest autumnal covers out there. The eye is… creepy, the house… is creepy, the trees… are creepy. And of course, the coloring reminds me of a leaf, falling from a tree. The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson is recently on my TBR. I watched the Netflix series a couple months ago and I loved it. Also, I just learned that Penguin has a whole line of classic horror books that look like this! I want ALL OF THEM!
This book cover gives me all the heart-eye emojis! The beautiful forest in the background with the mysterious door. Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire is a recent favorite of mine, and you can read my review of it here. This book just screams autumn.
Of course, I have to talk about my current read, The Near Witch by V.E. Schwab. There is something so simple yet autumnal about this cover. The tree is intertwined with so many fall colors, and the single crow gives it a spooky touch. Also, heads up, the inside is just as spooky as the outside! Witches GALORE!
This book cover feels more spooky than autumnal, but I had to include it. Serpent & Dove was one of the most anticipated releases of the season and has been quite popular in the book community. It features the endearing, YA book snake, along with creepy black leaves, feathers, and who knows what else. I also love the contrast between the black and the gold.
Obviously, I had to include The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon in my list of autumnal covers. It has such vibrant oranges and yellows, it immediately makes me think about fall. Also, I tend to read a lot of fantasy during the colder months of the year, so this is a perfect autumnal read. My November TBR is solely this book.
Lastly, I am presenting another spooky book cover. The Tenth Girl by Sara Faring definitely doesn’t have the autumnal colors I love so much, but the creepy haunted house on the cover? Definitely perfect for this time of year. Let’s just say, I am not planning on visiting the Vaccaro school any time soon if it looks like the cover. It is far too spooky!
Each fall, I like to go through my bookshelves and pull out all of the autumnal book covers, displaying them front and center. It adds a little touch to my room, and you know I am all about autumnal touches!
Comment down below what your favorite autumnal covers are! I would love to add more to my collection… not that I need any more.
