This story follows two brothers, Pedro and Daniel, from childhood through their teen years into adulthood. Pedro and Daniel are trying to navigate their life as gay, neurodivergent, Mexican Americans.
I was immediately impressed by the incredibly high reviews on Goodreads for this book. When writing this blog post, this book has an average rating of 4.88, which is insanely high. But besides that, I am beyond excited to read this story and learn about these characters. For someone who places characterization very highly, I have a feeling I am going to see a lot of that in this story.

Now, almost 20 years later, Nicola has finally gone back to her hometown where reminders of her childhood friend are everywhere. Being back home has also made Nicola rethink why her friend went missing.
I am such a huge fan of reading mystery and thriller books during the summer months! They offer a perfect way to escape from the heat! I am so excited to add this one to my summer TBR!

Lou was murdered by a serial killer. But luckily the government has a new program that is able to bring people back from the dead, so she is returned to her family. However, as Lou is trying to settle back into her life, she realizes there may be more to the story of how she was killed.
I don’t typically read science fiction during the summer, but with the added twist of mystery, I think this will be a really fun read!

When a professor at a school for magical students shows up dead, there is a race to find answers. The Grimoire of Grave Fates is told from a huge range of perspectives as people in the magical academy try to figure out who would want the teacher dead.
I am usually not a fan of anthologies, but I am excited by the fact that this all revolves around one mystery. I think it will be interesting seeing all the different perspectives on the same crime!

On Earth As It Is On Television by Emily Jane follows three people as they traverse a world in which the presence of alien life has been confirmed. As a massive fan of alien movies, alien TV shows, and more, I am thrilled at the concept of this book! Surprisingly, despite all of the alien media I consume, I have never read a book about extraterrestrial beings! Feels like a necessity!

In The Surviving Sky by Kritika H. Rao, the last of humanity is living on a plant-based floating world in the sky, held up by science, technology, and an elite group of architects that have the ability to manipulate the plants. In one of these floating cities, a married couple must grapple with their differences in an attempt to save their relationship, while also sticking to what they believe in.
For some reason, this setting of this book reminds me of Sky High. Do you remember that movie? The one with the magical highschool for super heroes. I feel like this is like that but a little higher stakes!

The very first review I saw of The First Bright Thing was comparing it to The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. As soon as I saw that, I knew I was hooked. In this story, Rin and her wife help run a circus that travels around during the time of World War I, bringing one night of escape to people in the Mid West. However, a rival has shown up in the form of another circus, and the ringmaster will do anything to take down Rin and circus.
One of my favorite settings for stories is the circus. I love the magic and excitement of it all! I can’t wait to see how this story lives up to one of my favorite books, The Night Circus!

However, the longer they spend together alone on this island, the more secrets are revealed, and the more drama ensues.
There is something about being stuck on a remote island that scares me so much. But I have no problem reading about it! I can’t wait to learn about these deep dark secrets and all the twists and turns that this book promises!

In A Most Agreeable Murder by Julia Seales, Beatrice is obsessed with the true crime cases she reads about in the newspapers. However, she must hide this obsession to be the perfect daughter for her family. However, when one of her sister’s suitors drops dead at a ball, all the knowledge she has from her obsession becomes way more useful than anyone thought it would be.
I love how this is a spin on the classic, Jane Eyre era stories. The added twist of murder makes me all the more excited to read this! Of course, with the added bonus of the beautiful book cover!
