Is it bad that July is literally next month and all I can think about is fall and winter? TikTok algorithm has decided to show me only Halloween and winter content. I can’t say I’m mad about it, but it certainly makes me miss the holiday season! But anyway, back to reality, summer is here which means so are the July 2023 book releases.
There are so many good books on this list. Books perfect for summer vacation, laying out on the beach, or curled up on your front porch enjoying a sunset.
It is definitely a new book release list that is heavy in mystery. I did see some romance books out there, and If you are looking for that genre, I recommend checking out this post which has an entire category for July 2023 romance releases. However, there are some romantasy books on this list, so romance readers still might find something!
But if you are like me, and enjoy laying down on the beach with a book full of twists and turns, this is the anticipated book release list for you! Keep reading to find some great beach reads!

Another month and another book about books! What else can I ask for! This story is about Bob Comet, a retired librarian who decides to volunteer at a senior center. While there, he starts unveiling his story to the residents, a story that differs from what people think of him.
This sounds like a quiet, subtle story. My favorite! As much as I love my mysteries, a good peaceful book can be just as exciting!

In this story, Cassie is still getting used to her fancy job at a Silicon Valley start-up, living in a city where the country’s richest people live directly next to the country’s poorest. She also still has a black hole around her, one that has been with her since she was young and feeds on her stress and anxiety. When demands from Cassie’s boss cross the line into illegal territory, she must decide if her dream job is really worth it.
I’ll admit, I was first attracted to this book by the book cover, but I am definitely intrigued by the storyline. Sounds like a book unlike anything I have ever read before, I’m ready!

This book follows Ashe and Pretorius’ Carnivale of Curiosities, an elite circus in London full of secrets and magic. These secrets may prove detrimental to the performers when they are released.
I am a huge fan of any book that has to do with carnivals. Ever since I read The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, I have been searching for the high I got while reading it. Maybe this book will be just as good!

The author of Mexican Gothic, Silvia Moreno-Garcia brings us a new horror book about Montserrat, a sound editor struggling to make it in the film industry. When her new neighbor asks her to work on finishing his movie, she realizes that there may be a reason why this cursed movie was never completed.
I love reading about old film sets and horror, this sounds like the perfect book for summer! Certain horror books just fit perfectly with the summer months and I think this is going to be one of them.

Honestly, I wasn’t sure about this book based on the cover, however, the plot sounds super interesting! During the annual summer black party in an exclusive cul-de-sac, one of the residents is murdered! But to understand why this happens, readers are taken back one year to learn about the relationships, secrets, and mysteries that plague this group of residents.
I love reading books set in the season I am in. So, as soon as I saw that this was a story surrounding a summer party, I knew I was intrigued! I hope the mystery lives up to my hopes!

Not only is this the most beautiful book cover on this list, but it is also a new release from Chloe Gong, author of the popular book, These Violent Delights. In this adult fantasy book, Gong takes on a story inspired by Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra.
Every year the capital city holds games with a prize of indescribable riches. Calla and Anton, two people living separate lives both independently decide to enter these games in hopes of changing their’s and their family’s lives.
I love the theme Chloe Gong has with doing retellings and stories inspired by classics. It is one of my favorite genres, I can’t wait to see what they did with Antony and Cleopatra.

I love a good science-fiction book, but I haven’t read one in years! I am so excited about The Deep Sky, a debut novel that follows a group of 8 elite astronauts on a journey through deep space to restart civilization on a different planet. However, an explosion pushes the ship off course, and the only survivor becomes the suspect.
With the elements of science-fiction mixed with mystery, I know this is going to be a summer read I can fall into and forget the hot days.

In this story, Francine resides in her family’s manor, where she is the only living soul. Of course, she is not alone, as she lives with the ghosts that have been there since her childhood. However, when her estranged sister, Madeleine, comes home, everything she thinks she knows is threatened.
I have been wanting to read more books in the gothic genre, which makes me excited about this story.

This story follows two characters. Reina is on a dangerous journey to find her grandmother, who she has never met. Eva is an outcast in her family and magic calls to her, except magic is dangerous. These two women’s lives intertwine leaving them both changed.
Romantasy was my first favorite genre, and it still holds a special place in my heart. I can’t wait to read this book and get lost in the magic of romance!

I cannot express how excited I am that there is a third book coming in this series. I read the first book, One of Us is Lying, back in 2021 and was obsessed with it. It is one of the best YA mysteries I have read, I was completely hooked by the very first page.
This third book in the series follows the Bayview Crew, who has dealt with murder, copycats, and more. But just as they are trying to piece their lives together, a billboard shows up suggesting that their troubles aren’t over. One of the Bayview Crew goes missing and secrets start to come out as the group struggles to figure out what is going on.
This is probably the book on the list of July 2023 book releases I am most excited about. It also gives me a great excuse to reread the first two books in the series.
There are so many fun mysteries on this list of July 2023 book releases! Although I am usually a fan of reading these books during the fall months, I think the stories on this list are perfect for summer. They feel like the perfect books to lay out on the beach and get lost in. Too bad I hate the beach so I will not be doing that!
And if you are still looking for some June 2023 releases, check out this post!
