If you are still trying to figure out what books you want to start the year off with, you’re in luck. Today I am going to be talking about my anticipated January 2022 book releases.
Every year I put together a list of books I definitely want to read within the year. I have done this for two years now and so far… I have been unsuccessful at actually completing this list.
But this year, I am determined. I have so many amazing books on my TBR, both books that were released already and books that have yet to release. There are just way too many good books to read!
If you are like me and are still trying to put your 2022 book TBR together, and you want to know about the January 2022 book releases are, you are in the right place.
I am not going to talk about all of them, because that would take all month long, but I wanted to list some of my most anticipated books that are coming out in January 2022!
Most of these books will be adventure and fantasy book releases for 2022, as those are the ones I read most. But there will be a few others as well. They will also be in the order of release, starting with books being released soonest.

I love stories like this. I have always enjoyed watching as an author builds a world in my mind, from the city streets to the magic system. It is so much fun to escape into fantasy stories like this. So I am thrilled that in only a few short weeks, I can read this book. I am sure to love it.

Daughter of the Moon Goddess is a debut fantasy novel based on the myth of Chang’e and the Moon Goddess. In this story, Xingyin has grown up on the moon in isolation. That is until her magic flares up and she must escape to save herself from being found, leaving her mother behind.
After fleeing, she blends into society in the Celestial Kingdom, where she starts studying next to the prince, and a relationship blooms between them. Xingyin must go on a journey to find her mother and save herself from the Celestial Emperor.
I have not read a high fantasy novel in forever, so I am super excited about this one. This is the first book in a duology. I have always loved everything that has to do with space, so this should be right up my alley. And honestly, this book cover is to die for!

The Bone Spindle by Leslie Vedder follows Fi, Briar, and Shane. While Fi is hunting for treasure, she pricks her finger on an old bone spindle and gets stuck with the spirit of Briar Rose. Now, Fi and Shane must work together to break a curse and set Briar free.
This book is supposed to be a retelling of Sleeping Beauty with a twist of Indiana Jones. That sounds amazing! I also love the trope of getting stuck with a spirit, as seen in Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas, so I am sure to enjoy this story!

However, when four people are murdered in one night and the only suspect is her friend and mentor, her goals change to one thing, proving her teacher’s innocence. Because of this, she starts an investigation of her own into who really killed those four people.
In my quest for more historical fiction, The Red Place by June Hur sounds like the perfect read. I love thriller and mystery books, this would be a great way to get myself to read more historical fiction. With all the positive reviews from early reviewers, I am sure this one will be a favorite for many.
You may recognize this author as the same author who wrote The Forest of Stolen Girls, a very popular book released in 2021.

The Roughest Draft by Emily Wibberley and Austing Siegemund-Broka follows a couple of writers who used to be famous for their co-written stories. That is until they had a massive falling out that no one knows the reason for.
Unfortunately, due to a contract with their publisher, they must write one more book together. So they join forces to spend one last time in a small town in Florida, where they will write their final book together.
I have always loved reading stories about either book lovers or writers. It is so easy to connect to the characters if you relate to them. So of course this book interests me, despite me not being the biggest fan of romance. The premise of this book reminds me a little bit of Beach Read by Emily Henry as well, a book I recently read.
There are way too many exciting January 2022 book releases! How am I supposed to finish the books on my current TBR with all these exciting reads coming out next month?
I am planning on creating a list like this of new book releases for every month of 2022, so stay tuned to see what 2022 book releases I am excited for! I love creating posts like this because it gives me a chance to highlight some of my most anticipates books!
