Recently, I have been missing Disneyland like crazy. I didn’t really go very often before COVID-19, maybe once every couple of years, but I liked the idea that I could. Now, with coronavirus, I’m not planning on going for a very long time and I am feeling… nostalgic.
In comes the Disney-a-Thon! I participated in their first go around last year, and it was the first read-a-thon that I successfully completed. It was one of the reasons I realized that writing out a TBR each month actually helped me. Maybe I was not the mood reader I thought I was. And since last month (July) was not the best reading month for me, I am hoping that this read-a-thon can kick me into gear.
For the Disney-a-Thon, you care supposed to choose a team. This year there are four teams, Hercules, Princess and the Frog, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast. The hosts of Disney-a-Thon creared a wonderful quiz to see what team fits us best.
My results: Team Hurcules
However, upon looking at the prompts, I decided to join team Princess and the Frog. the team book for Hercules is Strange the Dreamer, which is one of my favorite books. I just am not in the b=mood for a reread right now.
The prompts for Team Princess and the Frog fit much better with the books I was already planning on reading. The group book is An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir, which is on my list of 20 books I wanted to read in 2020. I can also fit other books from that list into the prompts of the team.
This image with prompts came from the Disney-a-Thon Twitter Page, where you can find more info on the read-a-thon and the other team prompts.
I am so excited to participate this year, so lets get into my TBR.
Tiana: Read a book with a hardworking character
I am doing a buddy read of this with some others, so I was happy to fit it into one of these prompts. The main character seems like a hardworker!
Prince Naveen: Read a book with royalty
This is way on my backlist. But based on the cover, I’m pretty sure there are royals in it.
Dr. Faciliar: Read a book where magic is used
I don’t know a lot about this book but I know there are monsters’ so I am pretty sure there is magic! This book has been on my TBR forever!
Ray: Read a book with a bright cover
Team Princess and the Frog has to ability to change any one prompt to one of another team. I am choosing to change this to Lumier’s prompt from Team Beauty and the Beast
Read a book you predict will be a five star read.
I have been wanting to read this book forever! I am sure it will be a 5 star read because of how much I love dystopia.
Charlotte: Read the group book
I didn’t really select this one, but it was on my TBR for the year anyway, so I am excited to finally read it!
I am so excited to be participating in the Disney-a-Thon for the second year. I can’t wait to read all of these books that have been on my TBR for quiet a while. Hopefully I will find some favorites!
Let me know down below if you are participating! I would love to see your TBRs!
