It wasn’t until last year that I really got into graphic novels. For me, there is something about the art style that draws me in and helps me connect to a story with so few words to read. I haven’t found a lot of graphic novels that are created in an art style I love, but the few I have quickly skyrocketed to the top of my favorites list.
The beauty of graphic novels is, if you get really into the story, you can keep on reading until the end, and you might just get enough sleep at the same time. Sometimes when I am reading, I don’t want to stop. I want to find out what happens next. I am sure we all understand this feeling. Luckily with graphic novels, I can and still go to bed at a reasonable hour!
I haven’t read quite as many graphic novels as I want, and I hope this list gets way longer over the next couple of years, but here are some of the incredible graphic novels I have read and think would be perfect for fall!
How could I not mention Sheets by Brenna Thummler when I am talking about graphic novels that are perfect for fall! This graphic novel is literally about a ghost! A very adorable ghost. There is nothing better than adding cute to spooky! You get spoopy and that is exactly what this story is! You can check out my review of this graphic novel here!
This was my introduction to graphic novels! I absolutely adore The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O’Neil, it will always hold a special place in my heart. I received my copy of this story in an OwlCrate, and was blown away by it. Honestly, I just think I really want a cute little tea dragon all for myself! There are multiple stories in this series, and I have yet to get my hands on the second or third! I really want to!
This story, Moonstruck by Grace Ellis, is so full of magical creatures and fun, it is so perfect for fall. the art style of this graphic novel was some of my favorite I have ever seen, and the diverse group of characters was so fun to read about. I think I might be in need of a reread of this one! You can check out my review of this one here!
Heartstopper by Alice Oseman isn’t exactly an “autumn” graphic novel but I wanted to include it on this list for anyone who isn’t in the mood for magic or spooks. This one is pure heartwarming joy, and I would recommend it to anyone who is in need of some cheering up, something I think we could all use lately.
And another one of my favorites on this list is Nimona by Noelle Stevenson. Not only was the art in this graphic novel wonderful, the story and the characters were so unique and interesting to read, I couldn’t put it down, which isn’t hard with graphic novels!
Bonus! Reading graphic novels will help you if you are running late on your reading goal this year. This is me every year, so I definitely have a couple graphic novels on my TBR for the rest of the year!
