Bookstagram is one of my favorite bookish communities. I was in that community long before I even created a blog or made my way over to the Book Twitter community. What better way is there to share your love of books than by posting pictures of them, and talking about them with others. It is so fun, and everyone I meet on the Instagram app are so sweet, talented, and amazing. Some of your photos are truly an art, I love scrolling through my feed!
I started recently spending a lot of time focusing on how I wanted my bookstagram to look. I have had my account for over four years now, and I had been taking the same types of pictures for so long, I knew I was in need of a glow up! This process has been so fun! I have enjoyed throwing a little artistic flare into my photos. I am still trying to improve and learn, but I think my photos have gone through a huge improvement.
Not only did my photos improve, so did my props! I used to add like one leaf to each photo during fall, so I am so glad that my autumnal prop collection has grown, mainly from just trying to decorate my room!
1. Pumpkins!
I mean come on, I have to include pumpkins in my photos! I have such an eclectic collection of pumpkins, that I can usually find one that fits with the themes of the books I want to photograph.
2. Fall Candles
I mean they smell good which is the most important part. But also, candles look so good in photographs! Especially fall ones with the adorable packaging and bright orange wax.
3. Leaves and fall foliage
These just add a little pop of color to your photo. Fall is such a colorful time, and I want that to reflect in my photos. I have found some amazing fall foliage at craft stores, and they are usually on sale for a couple bucks each! I particularly love this one with little yellow flowers!
4. Halloween Decorations
I mean, Halloween is the holiday of the season, right? I love everything Halloween, so I love to add a little spooky joy to my photos with all my adorable or cheesy decorations that I have collected over the years.
5. Sweaters
It is called sweater weather for a reason! What better way to warm up your bookstagram photos than a warm cozy sweater. I love using them in my photos because they fill some blank space.
I haven’t spent nearly enough time this year taking photos. I have been so busy and preoccupied, but writing this post is making me feel pretty inspired. I have a day off in a couple days, maybe I will dedicate some time to taking some photos! Especially since I haven’t posted in over a month… oops!
What do you use to spruce up your bookstagram photos for fall? Let me know in the comments below!
Oh my goodness, I would love to have some bat lanterns! I have been thinking of getting some bats to put on my wall but I haven’t yet! I really should. Also, I would love a ceramic ghost! I have seen pictures of a couple, and they are just adorable!
