Hello everyone!
Remember me?
I know, I have been a ghost for the past 3 months. I had such high hopes for the end of 2018 but my semester became unbearably busy, so I was unable to post anything. I wasn’t even able to finished Blogoween, which I was very excited about. I was also in an almost four-month reading slump, which was no fun.
BUT… I don’t want to dwell on the past. It is a new year and I want to focus on positivity this year.
Here is my review of 2018!
Books Read
I had set a pretty high goal for my self, personally. I had only read 34 books in 2017, but I had the motivation to up that. However, with the craziness of my second to last semester of college, I was unable to surpass this goal. I am still really happy with the 31 books that I was able to read this year. I think I stepped out of my reading comfort zone a couple of times and found some awesome reads.
The List:
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, The Cost of Power by Nicole Zoltack, Pretty Wicked by Kelly Charron, Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy, Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli, Wicked Fallout by Kelly Charron, Turtles all the Way Down by John Green, The Emperor’s Seal by Amanda Roberts, Allerleirauh by Chantal Gadoury, The Stand-In Boyfriend by Christina Benjamin, Whisper by Lynette Noni, The Boy from Tomorrow by Camille DeAngelis, The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick, The Broadcast by Liam Fialkov, The Forgotten Ones by Steena Holmes, Superhighway by Alex Flayman, The Maybe Boyfriend by Christina Benjamin, Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell, Flashforward by Robert J. Sawyer, Becoming the Dragon by Alex Sagegin, The Progeny by Tosca Lee, Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli, Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater, City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab, The Awakening by Kate Chopin, Nisei Daughter by Monica Itoi Sone, Christmas on Mistletoe Lane by Annie Rains, The Tattooist of Aushwitz by Heather Morris
Goals for 2019: Let’s get this bread!
- Read 50 books: Although I did not complete this goal last year, I am striving for it again this year. Maybe it is the motivation of the New Year talking but I think I can do it!
- Read more books I actually enjoy: I think part of the problem this past year was that I was wrapped up in finishing books I thought I needed to read even though I was not enjoying them. I want to enjoy reading. After all, it is my favorite hobby.
- Read more books than I buy: I think a lot of us can understand this one. I was actually really good during this past four-month reading slump because I only added three books to my collection. But I know, now that I am emerging from my slump, I am going to want to buy every book under the sun, especially with all the great new releases of 2019.
Currently Reading
These are the books I have walked into 2019 reading. I am hoping to finish them soon!
Yes, I know I have been reading All the Light We Cannot See and The Accidental Boyfriend since June, the slump was BAD. I am also rereading Strange the Dreamer because I love it so much.
January TBR
Keeping it a short and attainable TBR because I need to meet some goals! These three have been on my TBR for ages and I am excited about each one. I am so ready for this month!
Talk to me!
