Not only do I love reading during the fall season, but I also love watching TV and movies. Sometimes, when I get home from work, I don’t have the energy to focus on anything like a book. If I try, I usually fall asleep, LOL, and then my whole sleep schedule is messed up!
So, sometimes when I am trying to unwind after a night of work, I love to curl up in bed and just watch some TV. To be honest, I have probably been doing this a little too much, based on how behind I am on my TBR! But it is just so relaxing! But I also love books! Do you see my dilemma?
So, sometimes I sit here wishing I could have the best of both worlds. That I can watch TV and make a dent on my TBR. Anyway, here are a couple books I have read that I think would make really good TV series!
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
This book was so interestingly formatted, that I feel like it would transfer really well over to a visual format like a TV series. I also wish there were more science fiction TV shows to watch because I really do love that genre. I would kill to see what creators came up with for the ship and the characters. You can see my review of Illuminae here!
Home Before Dark by Riley Sager
I am not going to lie, I would love to see more TV series in the horror genre. We have American Horror Story and The Haunting of Hill House but that’s about it. Given how much I love horror, I would love to see even more horror books turned into TV series, and I think Home Before Dark would be a great one to adapt! Check out my review of this book here!
Mirage by Somaiya Daud
Let’s be honest, I would be happy to see Mirage to be adapted into anything. TV series, movie, onstage play, anything! This world was written so beautifully and so colorfully, I think it would translate beautifully to the screen. And again, selfishly, I would love more science fiction on the big screen!
Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert
Why not add a little light hearted fun into my TV dreams! I don’t usually go for shows like this, but I love Chloe Brown as a character so much, I think it would be wonderful to see Chloe and Redford Morgan enjoying their new relationship together. And bring in all the Brown sisters! It would be wonderful!
Wilder Girls by Rory Power
I think Wilder Girls as a TV series would burst into popularity so quickly. This story is so unique and strange, I think a lot of viewers would be interested in watching and seeing why these students are stuck on an island with minimal food and supplies. I know I would be interested in it!
I am currently watching Bates Motel right now and it is so good! It is definitely keeping me from all the books on my TBR… but it is so spooky and it is definitely putting me in the mood for this year.
Do you ever watch a TV series, and you can feel the magnificent storytelling that is involved. That is why I feel like books would do really well turned into TV series. You have more time to tell the story, and the creators could play with the concepts of the book. Yes, I think adaptations of books don’t need to be work for word for the book! Don’t kill me!
Anyways, what book do you think would be really good as a TV series? Let me know in the comments below!
