If you know me, you know how important decorating is for me. I love to put pumpkins and fall leaves all over my room and bookshelves in order to get them in the autumnal spirit. My space just feels so much better and warmer during the holidays because of all the decorations. But another thing I love doing is facing out certain books that match whatever season I am decorating for. In this case, the autumnal book covers are displayed proudly on my shelves.
I did a post like this last year, and I thought it would be nice to update it, with newer book covers or book covers I just discovered to be beautiful and perfect for fall. Not all of these will be specifically from 2020, but this is an updated list based on my updated eyes. You can see last year’s list here.
Labizona by Romina Garber
I have just seen the cover for the sequel and it is just as gorgeous as this one. This book not only has a beautiful cover, but it also sounds absolutely incredible and heartwrenching, following the story of an undocumented family struggling to find their place in a country with terrorist institutions like ICE. It is very real and very scary. I am so ready to finally have my hands on a copy of this book, I have been wanting to read it since I learned of it during this year’s YALLWEST.
The Tea Dragon Tapestry by Katie O’Neil
You know how much I love The Tea Dragon Society and each time Oni Press releases another graphic novel in the series, I am so excited. But look at this cover! It is absolutely perfect for fall, the colors, the fashion of the characters, the orange fluffy trees in the background. Everything I need in an Autumnal cover.
Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Preto
I have the OwlCrate version of this book with the beautiful sprayed edges, and I am in love! It is truly one of the most stunning books I own. Plus, I have never actually read a book about Phoenixes before, so I am excited to see what that is all about.
These Feathered Flames by Alexandra Overy
In all honesty, I don’t actually know what this book is about, but I have already added it to my TBR based on the cover. But I am such a lover of fantasy, that I know this is something I would pick up anyway. Plus, the book will look amazing on my shelves once I finally have a copy.
An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson
This book cover is on my list because of the spooky vibes it gives off. The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe is a classic spooky tale and always reminds me of Fall. So, when I first saw this cover I knew I had to read the book during the fall season. I haven’t read it yet, but hopefully, soon I will!
Book cover designers are incredible, and I really do feel like we need to give them more credit. They create the thing that makes me pick up 90% of the books I pick up. I definitely judge books based on their covers. I wish their name was prominently displayed somewhere in the book.
As you can see from this list, I chose most of these books based on the colors on the cover. I have been really into colors this year, in regards to decorating my home. So, it makes sense that colors are what I am drawn to in Autumnal covers.

Loved this post Jackie, these covers are all so beautiful and the books are all on my list too! I read An Enchantment of Ravens last year, it’s definitely a great pick for fall reading, so I hope you really enjoy it!
Thank you! These covers are some of my favorites recently! I will definitely have to pick up An Enchantment of Ravens soon! I have been in the mood for some fantasy recently.
Happy reading!
