Happy Friday everyone! It is my last Friday before school starts back up for the LAST semester of my undergraduate degree! So, I am soaking in all the relaxation before my life gets hectic again! I also will be planning some blog posts! How fun… and necessary!
Well, anyway… today, I thought I would do a First Lines Friday. I haven’t done one of these in ages and I think they are a lot of fun.
This is a weekly meme hosted by Wandering Words, and it is a fun way to judge a book on something other than its title, hype, or cover.
Rules (As written by Wandering Words):
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
The Quote:
“There are moments that both shatter and restore your existence at once. That hallow you out as your entire life up to that instant – and your entire life from that instant on – collide inside you and leave you gasping for air.”
…
It is the second book in a series…
…
It is my current read…
…
And the book is…
If those lines didn’t make you want to read this book, maybe my review of the first in the series will. Click here to read it! I honestly loved the first book and I am enjoying my read of the sequel. I will have my review of this one up within the next week!
Talk to me!
Were you intrigued by these first few lines?
Have you read any other books by Tosca Lee?
What book caught your attention with the first few lines?
Let me know in the comments!
Love,
Jackie

I love first lines in a book! At times, when I’m a bit skeptical about picking something up, I check the first few sentences in it. If I was hooked, I would continue on with the book but if not, well, I put it away for another time and pick up another one. And this is the first I’ve heard of this weekly meme, but I’m definitely gonna join soon! As for the first line you’ve shared, that was intense! Now I’m interested in this book. Great post! <3
First lines are seriously such good indicators of whether or not I will like a book. I love going through a bookstore and reading the first lines to find my next read.
Yeah, this book is pretty intense. The first one was as well haha. But so good in my opinion! Let me know if you do the meme! I would love to check out your post.
Will do, thank you! <3
